problem-solving lab: interpret scientific illustrations

By making this meme I had the chance to display what I learned about the Rydberg Constant. I learned that what Niels Bohr proposed was that there are multiple energy levels and those energy levels vary depending on how large the orbit around the nucleus was. Using this he determined the radius of each orbit and created energy levels with that information. The concept he introduced was that of an electron reaching a higher energy level when an outside energy source is added. Then, when the electron drops back down, the difference in energy of the energylev els is transmitted as a photon (ex. neon light signs). Also, the first energy level is refered to as the ground state and electrons are not considered "in an excited state" until they reach at least the second energy level. One thing to note, is that Bohr only applied this constant to the hydrogen atom so scientist didn't know how the Rydberg Consant applied to other elements.
